If you look back over the past 20 or maybe even 30 years, the betting industry is one that has seen huge changes. The entire process of betting has changed, bringing it into the 21st century and that has led to a huge rise in the popularity of placing a wager.

Gone are the days of track betting, finding a local bookmaker and even betting on a phone call. The first introduction was online betting, allowing users to bet from their home using a computer. Many thought this was perfect, a convenient way to place bets though that soon changed.

If you are betting on your computer, you need to be at home and on your computer, so it is not as convenient as once thought. Convenience is being able to bet from anywhere, anytime you like.

How Sports Betting Apps Have Grown

As people have realised what sports betting apps can give them, more have turned to mobile betting. There are no limits with this, and best of all, the apps are downloaded onto devices that the majority of us carry around everywhere and wouldn’t leave the house without.

These apps effectively give you a bookmaker in your pocket and within seconds you can take your phone out of your pocket and place bets.

Many of the top bookmakers offer an app, and they have put a lot of time and money into developing them. Coral has put a lot of effort into their betting app and when bookmakers do this, others have to follow to keep up with the competition.

These apps are the future of the betting industry and the front runners were the first to realise this and do something about it.

The Full Betting Service in Your Pocket

Where the bookmakers have really excelled and moved forward with their mobile service is how they have incorporated other things.

You don’t just bet on your mobile app, you can fully control your account and do everything you can on a desktop site, making them almost irrelevant to some punters.

If you want to bet in play, watch live football from leagues such as La Liga, deposit funds, withdraw when you win, contact the customer service team or something else, it can all be done on the app.

There is no longer any need for desktop betting, and the reason for that is because the apps that are available from the big bookmakers are all so good that we don’t need anything else.

Perhaps the best endorsement of the mobile betting apps of today is the fact that many people no longer sign on using a desktop computer.

    What Could the Future Hold?

Now that mobile betting is established, the way forward and the future may not be as exciting or life changing as what we have seen over the past decade.

However, the betting industry is one that constantly looks for ways to improve, so don’t be surprised to see some changes in the coming years. 2020 is set to be a big year for releases, with the new Xbox Series X likely to headline things.

When you look at any recently released gadgets, one thing many of them are turning towards is voice control. Could this be something we see in the future for mobile betting?

Rather than going onto your phone and scrolling through the many different betting markets to find what you want to bet on, could you simply speak to your app and tell it what you want to bet on?

We are all becoming used to this kind of technology, so should it come along there would certainly be a market of people happy to use it for added convenience.
