One of the most interesting things about mobile gaming is that it completely transformed the gaming realm in a short amount of time.

The advent of the smartphone allowed mobile gaming to become high concept and to appeal to casual gamers. Over the last decade, the industry has grown and is now massive. One area of mobile gaming that has exploded is casual online casino games, which are now widely played.

Game developers and online casinos took advantage of the ability of a smartphone to play console-quality games. Casino-related related games come in two guises. Firstly, there are the games offered by full online casinos where you can make bets. With these games, you can wager on poker, roulette, and on a live casino experience as you would on a website.

The second type of casino mobile game is arguably more interesting. These games are casino titles that are simply developed and released for fun. In other words, you can play online slots, poker, and other games with no money exchanging hands. While online casinos also let you play for fun, dedicated mobile casino games are purely focused on entertainment.

In this article, we will explore what has driven the popularity of casino games on mobile.

    Everyone Has a Phone

Sure, saying everyone has a phone is an exaggeration, but the truth is billions of people around the world now have a smartphone. More importantly, the smartphone has become an indispensable everyday tool for most of those people. Not since the automobile has a device or product become so connected to our day-to-day lives.

People use smartphones for news, entertainment, photography, communication, using the internet, and gaming. Developers of games quickly realized that the easiest way to reach the widest possible audience was to create titles for mobile. This was an industry-wide realization that even major dev’s such as Electronic Arts and Blizzard embraced.

Traditional online casinos that were previously accessible only for desktop quickly adapted and released their platforms on mobile devices. This meant users of smartphones could access online casino games on their handsets and tablets, whether playing for money or for fun.

    People Love Online Casinos

People love traditional bricks and mortar casinos and they loved it more when casinos became available online. Sure, online casinos have been popular for two decades, but in recent years their popularity has exploded. That surge in demand has seen online casinos become one of the fastest-growing forms of recreation and entertainment.

    Best of Both Worlds

Some developers have put the two points above into a single experience. In other words, dev’s have created games that take advantage of the ubiquity of mobile phones and combined it with the popularity of casino games. On smartphones, apps are now available that are based on casino games but are not part of an online casino.

These casino-based mobile games often put a twist on a game – such as poker – to make it even more entertaining for the casual player. Slots have also provided a rich resource for game developers. Of course, the online slots on full online casinos are also loads of fun, and mobile game developers are now creating their own slots games for smartphones.

With the online casino and mobile casino game market growing, who knows where it will take us. Certainly, it seems likely that more and more people will embrace casino games online.
