For games like Splatoon 2 which requires you to register the Amiibo before it lets you use it in the game, I get a Register Failed error. Upon checking the N2 Elite, the amiibo data in the slot I had is completely erased. It appears if the Nintendo Switch checks to see if its a valid amiibo before it lets you register it by trying to delete the amiibo data. Is there a way around this?

In theory you might be able to randomize the serial number to try to get it to work. That said, if it erased the tag, it may literally just be checking to see if it -can- erase it and doing so first. That would be a pretty easy way for them to screw up invalid ones without affecting valid ones.

That's actually strange. Only N2 Elite Tags are erasable. Even 'normal' NTAG215-Tags would not be erasable. If this actually is a repeatable issue you could try locking the N2 Tag as it will behave like a normal NTAG in that mode and should not be erasable anymore (even by the app, unless you unlock the tag again)
