The online entertainment community is growing in leaps and bounds, mostly because people are spending more time on the web than with traditional sources of entertainment. TV, radio and just good ol’ fashioned playing outside are all still viable, but more and more people are finding pleasure in the virtual world.

Let’s take a look at just how much.

    Total Time Spent Online

The Digital 2019 Report tells us that the average person spends about 6 hours and 42 minutes online per day. This adds up to more than 100 days out of every year. If we spend one third of our time sleeping and another one third working, does that really leave any time for the real world?

For instance, people in the UK have an average of seven social media accounts. 58% of users are not even concerned about the potential privacy breaches that come with so much Internet use.

What’s more, these numbers are expected to increase as the Internet proliferates around the Asia Pacific and African markets. When social media and online gaming become as big a part of everyday life in Kenya as it is the United States, we will begin to see some statistics that will definitely blow the minds of traditionalists.

    The World of Gaming

Gaming is one of the biggest reasons that Internet usage has outpaced traditional forms of entertainment. Around one in every 10 mobile phone users has some sort of game on his or her smartphone and plays it on a daily basis.

Studies from the beginning of the decade all predicted that the world of online gambling would be essential in helping the overall gaming market to grow. They were right. Online casinos are now a huge chunk of the overall gambling market, with some estimates as high as 50%.

Why is the world of virtual gaming so popular? There are many reasons that gamers give for going online.

    Security

The reason that many people do not get into online gambling is because of the perception of danger; that is, the digital world is full of unscrupulous individuals who can easily steal your sensitive information. That was actually never the case, and modern security features are becoming even more sophisticated around the gaming industry. Casumo is one such company we'd recommend for playing casino games online if you are looking for a convenient, but safe environment.

    Convenience

Online gambling is much more convenient than taking a plane to Las Vegas or Atlantic City. You can get the same kinds of games without spending the money on travel, which means more money for the games. It is also extremely simple today to connect your online casino account to your banking account, making it convenient to move money into your games and take your winnings as they come in real time.

    Technology

New forms of technology are bringing new forms of immersion into the online gambling space. Instead of selecting a game from a menu, VR now allows you to move through a virtual casino as though you were right there. You can interact with players across the world, and you can even choose your tables based on the skill level of the players who are sitting there!d

    Entertainment

So what exactly are all of us looking for online? That answer is easy - entertainment. Market research company Zenith tells us that people around the world will finally use the Internet more than TV starting in 2019. According to the reports, this transition was predictable. But it happened faster than it was supposed to.

The 2019 report also tells us that people will spend an average of 170.6 minutes per day on activities like social media and Youtube. TV watching takes up a little less time - 170.3 minutes per day. Zenith tells us that a great deal of the acceleration is from low cost smartphones in emerging markets.

How much time do we spend on the web? By all standards, we will be spending much more time there in the future. Prepare yourself for a new world of gaming, social activity and interactive digital entertainment!
