Sony Interactive Entertainment (Sony) has filed a lawsuit against a California man for selling jailbroken PS4 console filled with pirated games.
The man, who is accused of copyright infringement and circumventing the PS4's technological protection measures, allegedly encouraged people to "Stop Buying Games."

Of course, only idiots would be stupid enough to try to sell 'consoles' pre-loaded with 'pirated' games on them on eBay USA, but problem with one 'bad apple' it ruins people trying to sell their 'used consoles', as crackdowns like this normally result in eBay just pulling down all listings as they can't be sure there is 'games' on them or not, even if the seller does not mention it in the listing, they rather be sure then risk being held liable by Sony for allowing a 'used console' to be sold with games on it that the seller does not own or have rights to them.

Meh. I think the concern regarding what ebay will do with all listings is over stated.

This guy was clearly beyond idiot status. Flat out stating every illegal aspect in the description. Including 60 games. THAT, right there is what got his stupid ass busted. This is the biggest no-no there is. Piracy is always going to exist. And for the most part, while companies may try to crack down on the modding scene, what they really don't like is when people are selling and profiting directly by selling content that isn't theirs. This is the one situation where the industry does have a valid complaint. It's one thing to sell a chip or exploit to allow one to play pirated games. Hell, it's one thing to copy a disc and "give" it to someone. It's another thing completely to actually SELL said pirated game for your own profit. Shit, the whole point of piracy is to not have to pay. Assholes scumbags like this guy deserve to be arrested because they are contributing absolutely nothing positive to the scene.

Now, that said, honestly, I haven't ever notice mass listing culls after events like this in the past. Only listings that were suspect or using keywords like "jailbreak" and "preloaded". I think you will find most of the regular "used ps4 for sale" listings will still be there at the end of the day.

Nothing to see here kiddies except some dumb ass criminal getting what he deserves.
