Rumor is Sony is planning on grabbing the 50% of their Joint-Venture!

Sources reported Sony is trying hard to remove Ericsson from their line-up of current smartphones, to make it all Sony branded only!

Wall Street Journal is claiming Sony have been talking to Ericsson about grabbing their 50% stake in their long-time Joint-Venture, to pull all their smartphones into being a Sony ONLY brand.

Some people think this is the right move, even tho it might cost Sony over $1 billion to be able to throw Ericsson name out of their existing products.

Others think this will allow Sony to focus more on the S part of the product, and give more push in consumers to buy it, and make the Playstation brand stronger on their new devices like Xperia Play, or in fact produce a REAL Playstation Phone, as some think having the E in the Xperia Play, didn't make it in the consumers eyes as an actual Playstation Phone, just another smartphone knock-off!

      Pffff...
      To me, Ericsson doesn't exist.
Even though I'm using SE phones for like 4-5 generations now, I think there's nothing "Ericsson" about them.

Ericsson made some great phones with some popular designs back then.
Sony made some unpopular phones, even though they were awesome devices.
Sony Ericsson? I think it's just Sony with a less professional image than the early Sony phones.

I know, Ericsson is good at communications, Sony is good at making mobile devices (walkman, discman, etc) so it was a nice fit.
It's just that Sony (imho) sucks at making good software.
