The Witcher III is undoubtedly among the most beloved video games of this latest generation of both consoles and PC gaming.
Geralt of Rivia and its story has fascinated millions of players all around the world so that Netflix has decided to make a series that will come out soon on their video streaming platform.
When a videogame is made into a movie or a TV series, it's similar to a lottery without even having a Wink bingo promo code to use. In fact, in the past, the quality of some productions has been very low, unfortunately with only a few notable exceptions.
For The Witcher, however, Netflix is setting up a really super cast. In the role of the above-mentioned leading character, Geralt of Rivia, we will see the great Henry Cavill, an actor best known for taking the lead in the latest Superman film by Warner Bros - DC Comics. So, after the man of steel Cavill will be impersonating The Witcher!
In the last days, more elements of the cast members have been revealed. To be more precise, the young Ciri will be played by Freya Allan (The War of the Worlds), while Anya Chalotra (The ABC Murders) will play the role of the sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg. Then, Jodhi May will be the Queen Calanthe of Cintra, while Björn Hlynur Haraldsson will be her husband, King Eist. Adam Levy will play the Druid Mousesack; MyAnna Buring will lead the magical academy at Aretuza as Tissaia; finally, Millie Brady will be Princess Renfri.
An element that should not be underestimated is the name of the producer of the series: Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. This is the same showrunner who created for Netflix the series dedicated to the Marvel characters Daredevil and The Defenders. While opinions on The Defenders have been quite discordant, Daredevil’s TV version has only met with enthusiastic comments from fans and critics, so that the excitement for the third season being released on October 19 on Netflix is truly at sky-high levels.
Based on these info, therefore, we hope that a great series will be come to light, one that perhaps (definitely a hard goal to achieve) could achieve the seat for the best fantasy production on the small screen (whether it be a TV, a PC or a smartphone) since Game of Thrones.
If you are wondering when it will be possible to play with The Witcher IV, we’re going to tell you immediately that you will need to wait for some time. The Polish team of CD Projekt RED is currently busy developing Cyberpunk 2077, a title by which the software house hopes to repeat the success of The Witcher but this time in an imaginative sci-fi universe that is reminiscent of the features of Blade Runner and its movie and videogame spinoffs. Currently, Cyberpunk 2077 does not have a release date yet and we feel it is very unlikely that before the release of this title, the fourth chapter of The Witcher could be announced.
We will be content watching the Netflix series provided, of course, that it manage to meet the expectations that presently are very high.
