Proxy does not seem that will work anymore...Actually I really surprised they found a solution ( and happy... :p), now just wondering if this:

"We are currently devloping methods to bypass 4.60 OFW on PATA phat, 2k and 2k5/3k systems. A news update will follow again shortly, stay tuned!"

means that they don't have any idea how to do it yet or already found a way and are working on it.... Because my ps3 is 2k :(

They have found a way but are still working on it and are trying to improve the procedure.

Never again... Sorry... Since Sony changed PSN it will probably never be possible to connect to PSN without the proper firmware...

I'm pretty sure a new (proxy?) method will be found eventually. No system is without flaws and holes :)

But they will be harder to find anytime they fix the previous way.
So don't think anybody is looking right now.

Well at the moment it's not that necessary. But, once Sony blocks existing ODEs (which will happen eventually, whether we want it or not), there will be a huge demand for a way to play online. Which will encourage capable people to work on this :p

Let's hope the newly begun research on the PS3 will bring a new solution to the ancient 3.55 hacks.

Hi, I have no interest in my PS3 (on 4.55) connecting to PSN, but does this method still work for blocking the system update from being found?
Currently have my PS3 in the "paranoid state" of no internet connection at all, but would prefer it if games could still be updated. Or is it better to use the offline install of updates?

    Thanks

Hi, thanks for the reply, but wasn't really what I was asking. I have now had a chance to test what I was thinking on my PS3, in that I have blocked *.ps3.update.playstation.net on my router, and now the PS3 cannot find system updates (it thinks the update servers are down), but it can still find and download game updates, which is perfect :)

Nah, I haven't connected to PSN on my PS3 for about 4 years, I would guess it won't work as the proxy method is just telling your PS3 that there is no update (whereas I'm just not allowing the PS3 to find out if there is an update), and PSN appears to be blocking connections from PS3s that aren't up to date.
