First foreign hacker ever to be sentenced in the USA

David Pokora, 22, of Ontario, Canada was sentenced to 18 months in prison in a Delaware federal court. The sentence, a first of its kind, comes as the U.S.A. tries to grapple with major cyber threats.

We reported before on the fall-out from the hackers like SuperDAE and SonicISO that were trading early info on the Xbox One while it was in development stages back, and finally one of the so-called 'ring-leaders' an Canadian one has become the first ever hacker from another country to spend the next couple of years in a USA prison for his role in the operation.

Of course the above is mainstream media way of painting how 'bad this person' was. But really it is far from the truth, if it was not for Aussie-based hacker SuperDAE turning into RAT and double-agent and keeping his friends in dark while it help to bury them into the hole more by feeding everything to FBI, and if it was not for FBI being nasty and playing dirty tricks with a Canadian 'car auto parts' store to make sure on purpose David had to drive in to USA on his own to pickup a needed part to repair his car (his second love, besides computers/gaming/hacking) then he would not become an poster example of how these 'bad horrible hackers' are.

And also all this talk about fake Xbox One consoles is real expansion of fancy words, all they were was Gateway PC wth video card and software installed that matched the same setup that Microsoft themselves were using on their first Alpha development machines, far from actual Xbox One, it was just PC not even setup as good was PC's that M$ used at E3 later on to trick people into thinking it was an Xbox One running the games.

Oh'well, soon we see how the next case turns out being 'Sanadodeh Nesheiwat' (aka) 'SonicISO'.

A similar tactic is used by some state law enforcement agencies. They have check points on return routes from Mexican beaches that are popular with college students. This is to catch people guilty of underage drinking--underage in the U.S., not Mexico where they do their partying. It's not a drunk driving checkpoint.

it's interesting that U.S. government agencies stage some of their operations off of U.S. territory for the reason that they won't have to abide by U.S. laws. Yet they claim everyone else must follow U.S. laws, even when not on U.S. soil.

Stealing is stealing... and stealing is a crime. He got what he deserved, and 18 months prison time is a reasonable sentence for his crimes. I'm sure in that time he will have learned from his mistakes. He is obviously intelligent, so he should have no problem creating a life for himself after prison. This will most likely not ruin him.

"The group, through a breach of Zombie Studios, gained access to the U.S. Army's computer network and training software that was being developed for the Apache helicopter."

That's what got him arrested and doing time, If it was the actual games side of things, then it would have been one of those stupid out of proportion fines the media industry like to use.

This is bordering petty crimes. If it wasn't for the fact that many of these hackers leak customer information databases, there would not be a case for them.
