MS doesn't want you to swear at your Xbox One...

MS is issuing 'temporary' bans to users of the Upload Studio app on Xbox One who have used profanity...

Microsoft is handing out temporary Xbox Live bans for select gamers found to be using "excessive" foul language in content created with Upload Studio, according to some reports.

Initially, the reports led to some confusion about whether Microsoft was also monitoring private Skype conversations for profanity. MS has since explained that this is NOT the case, but keep in mind that swearing during any video you record and uploading it can also result in a ban.

Apparently, banned users can still play online, but are prevented from attaching camera recordings to their gameplay clips and/or being blocked from using Upload Studio.

    Here's the report:

nice to see another jealous gamer, erm again ms block swearing, yet we find the usual suspects slating.

is it me or did you just see MS and BAN then came in??

again this is good, id rather play online with gamers, not 12 year olds that swear that much if they were to be beeped out, theyd sound like R2D2.

you obviously didn't read the links, the first person who was banned was swearing in a PRIVATE skype conversation and as for your response to artlover, just read what you quoted, he was commenting on the the "beta" wording of the message, incomplete, buggy and in need of fixing, just like the xbone's os.

      how is it??

      read it again

      Choose something else to play
Because of your past behavior, you cant, (meaning the app/game you tried to run, hence first line above) Xbox live Gold is required to run Skype for Xbox One.

So its correct, its saying choose something else to play, your past behavoir means that your xbox live account has been banned and you need this to run skype.

but there is no proof that it was skype that got him banned, this person could have done something then got banned, then to feed news the the fanboys, takes a pic trying to run skype after already been banned.

Microsoft should be intercept a Call of duty ghost game, where blasfemity is a normal thing. Need close server and ban all console in the world.

I guess the message is ok,,,, if you talk like Yoda and have little understanding of English and its relative dialects.

Maybe MS should introduce parental settings instead of just banning people, I've seen e.g. LPs of bad games where people swore and didn't mind it myself and it seemed somewhat natural in context.

I can see allot of these bans happening.

Now of course I'm not including regular gameplay with public audio.

That said, this reminds me of this:

not entirely sure ms could afford to do that as it would block what appears to be a massive proportion of its subscribers from playing the games they play (cod, bf, gears etc)

      There I fixed it.

According to the post on NeoGaf a user was banned during a skype call. I am not a lawyer but I know that in my area its illegal to monitor calls unless one or both parties know the call in being monitored. That screen would be to easy to fake for me to take serious until confirmed by some one I trust.
